Travertine Polishing
Travertine polishing is technically no different than marble polishing. Similar diamond abrasives are used as are polishing compounds. Keep in mind that the fill content within most travertine will not polish at the same rate as the stone itself. Therefore travertine stone, even when polished will lean towards a muddled appearance as the eye will perceive the filled areas differently than the stone itself. As a general rule, more than 90% of the travertine surfaces that we encounter are honed rather than polished. It seems travertine is very forgiving as a honed stone, lending itself to be a beautiful stone even as it wears. Travertine polishing is avaialble if you are one of the select that have or desire a high polished travertine surface.
