Travertine Sealing
Travertine sealing is a process that we often perform. Like many natural stone surfaces, travertine can be absorbent and will tend to hold dirt, grime and other contaminates in the surface. That said, as far as natural stone surfaces go, travertine when finished at a higher honed or polished state will become very resistant to absorption naturally as the surface tension of a highly honed stone or polished stone is greater than that of a tumbled or less honed surface. To be safe, have your travertine sealed as a matter of course when you have any type of travertine restoration performed, however rest easy knowing that the sealer applied will be working hardest for your grout lines and for the most part, your travertine stone surface will be ok in any case.
